Decisive Computer

In eagerness I burned a cd from my prior weekend so I could post the pics on my blog while at work today. Funny that this day for some reason my computer decided it could have an opinion of it's own and decided that it didn't like that particular cd but "Hey any other would be just fine", it said. What the f _ _ _ ?

Summer Time Fun

Had a fabulous weekend of sun, sandbars, girlfriends and Pina Coladas at the Last Resort. I did arrive to find a few early arrivals...LARGE black ants; after stomping and yelling die with a few obsenities all was well and we enjoyed all that summer can offer. Stay tuned for pics.

Note to self...Must have more girl weekends. And to those that didn't show up you know who you are and you missed out!

July Anticipation

So July 2005 is offically becoming my month of concerts. I purchased tickets yesterday to the wonderful Chris Isaak, he is performing July 16 in Seattle, part of the Cingular Summer Night Concert series @ South Lake Union Park. The following weekend I am taking a stroll down memory lane and going to see my high school favs Motley Crue at the Coliseum. You can tell a lot about a person by the music they listen to, Chris Isaak to Motley Crue? What does that say about moi?

The only other concert(s) that I am awaiting is 54-40, I have to say they are my all time favorite and have been the soundtrack to my life since I was 20.

May Long Weekend

Even though summer isn't offically here just yet, this long weekend is the official beginning of summer for many. And for others like me, it is the constant runny nose of allergies that is the official kick-off to summer.

Stranded with 54-40

Just heard the brand new 54-40 tune; Easy to Love from their new album 'Say Yes to Everything' due out June 14th. I am so looking forward to a summer of 54-40 concerts. If someone was to ask me "If you were stuck on an island and could only have a library of one band, who would they be?" I would scream 54-40 baby!

Personally Affected

For the first time as a resident of the rapidly growing Peninsula I am personally affected by it's too quick growth. After 3 years of waiting I have finally found a local female doctor that is taking new patients. It's not rocket science; our government needs to think beyond their wallets and think about what they are going to do with all these new people moving to White Rock and South Surrey. We already have exsisting residents who are having a hard time finding someone who is accepting new patients.

I am scared to drive down a street that I haven't been down in a while because of what I might find...what was once a nice treed piece of land, bulldozed to build more houses. Damn government.

Election 2005

Well the Liberals have won again, provincially and in my little city. I am not sure how I feel about the Liberals or any other party for that matter, my mom said you just have to vote for "the best of the worst". I hope they (Liberals) don't keep raping South Surrey and White Rock's natural beauty. What am I saying? of course they will.

Lumps In Our Throats

Our visit to the parrot refuge was a draining and emotional one. It is amazing that in this day and age there are still ignorant people that think animals were put on this earth for humans to use at their disposal. It was gut wrenching to see the physical shape of some of those birds; a direct result of the physical and emotional abuse they suffered while under the care of their "loving families".

Education is key. Learn first. We are a people of the 21 century and there is no excuse for our lack of knowledge or compassion.

He Is Home

He is home now, didn't have much time to play with him last night so hopefully we can spend some quality time together over the weekend, his first road trip; we are going to Vancouver Island.

I'm usually not a fan of green but for some reason the colour has ruled the Summer of 2005 for me.

He needs a name...I was thinking Skippy.

Meet...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
I am picking him up tonight and am very excited!

Bye Bye Berty?

So we are off to Coombs on Vancouver Island this weekend, to scout out a parrot refuge for Bert. Bert is an Orange Winged Amazon parrot that my family took in as a favour to my Uncle Tom while he was back east; 20 years later we still have him.

Bert's journey started at the family home and then he became my roommate when I moved out. Even at this early age Bert was becoming very demanding and was not socializing well and our living arrangment never worked out; he moved back home to my parents. My mom now is dealing with what I went through when he lived with me and no one is having fun including Bert.

Surrendering your pet to anyone is always an emotional decision but we all feel Bert would be much happier living amongst trees and friends that will stimulate his mind and improve his spirit. Hopefully this avery is a place that will allow Bert to thrive.

I cannot say enough that "NO ONE SHOULD OWN A PARROT". Parrots have the mentality and brain like that of a 3yr old child for their entire life and need to be stimulated everyday.

Think about it...would you want to look after a 3yr child for 50 years?

A Lifetime Around Boundary Bay

Walking around Crescent Beach last night reminded my that my entire life so far, has existed and evolved around Boundary Bay. The family cabin @ Maple Beach in Point Roberts has been a home away from home since I was a lil' girl & my home today is just across the bay in White Rock. I sometimes wonder why my need to be around water and this particular bay is so strong....

"Never Look Down Your Nose At Nobody"

My grandma said in a conversation over the weekend "I never look down my nose at nobody", a quote she learned from her mother. Amazing that after many years this still is a great virtue, and even more amazing is that many people still do look down their noses.

Past Life Theory

My mom has always said that I must have been barefoot in my previous life, this would explain my crazed obsession with shoes.

My dad was also barefoot but he was cold too, explaining a closet full of jackets.

What was your prior life void of?

New Shoes

A new shopping experience was had this last week. I ordered a pair of shoes online, because of our strong dollar it was cheaper to order then online & have them shipped to the Point than to buy locally at a mall.

I can see how people get lost in debt ordering online, it was like no money was spent because it was on VISA, no signature, nothing, just a bill that I haven't got yet.

I have to be strong & careful....currently being seduced by a wonderful pair of gold high heeled Nine West sandals.

Like a bird...I am attracted to shiny flashy objects. And shoes, well there is no need to explain is there girls?
