Newbie In Action

Keep an eye our for me on the Promenade tomorrow morning, it is my first official greeting day and I will be putting my many skills into effect.

Ask me anything, I'm ready.

My vast knowledge of my lil' community and wonderful skill of the gab may be more than many unexpected tourists are ready for. I just hope I don't come across too many people that don't speak English very well, I am capable of speaking at the speed of sound.

Things to remember....
talk slowly and clearly
wear hair down to prevent looking like a geek

Todd Todd Todd, be cafeful what you wish for

Last night Todd expressed his concern and complained that he hasn't been mentioned in any prior entries. Can you believe this? This coming from someone that hasn't even found the time to read any entry until months after my first. I explained that my blog isn't super personal, and I don't really talk about anyone other than myself and my experiences. That is the purpose of a blog isn't it?

So here I mention him and his value to my blog; Todd has a camera phone. Now when we encounter anything that is screaming to be photographed I don't have to kick myself for not having my camera with me.

I vow to try to include Todd more, I just hope he will be okay with how I interpret him and his actions.

Dear Todd,
You are now in my hands. The world will see you as I see you, which may not be as you want to be seen. After a few entries you may be kicking yourself for saying anything to me.

Hence my blog name...

To fulfill my pathetic need to be a part of all things White Rock, I am now an official Waterfront Greeter volunteer for the summer of 2005. I joined a group of other locals Saturday morning for our first day/orientation with White Rock Leisure Services department. As "official" greeters we will be adorned with white sailor hats (very Gilliganny) & blue polo shirts stating "Waterfront Greeters" on the back. Our daily mission is to walk White Rock's waterfront helping residents and tourists, ensuring that they don't leave with the only memory that the parking situation sucks. Hey, I got to meet the mayor and a few of the councilors.
My secret mission? Be a councilor and whip this city into shape.

I'm the geek in the front row, 2nd in on the right.
Note to self, don't wear hair up when wearing silly Gilligan type hats.

Season Finale

Tonight is the night for the 2 hour finale of Project Runway, so you can imagine the horror when I discovered that I can't watch the entire show.

"It's After Noon Somewhere"

Sunday morning found us on the sunfilled patio of the Gilnetter Pub celebrating Father's Day. We kicked off brunch with many Coronas, a bucket no less, and Caesar's. A quick glance around made us realize that we were kicking if off hard, no one else seemed to be drinking with such zest as our table and so early in the morning. A look at our table full of empty and full drinks prompted us to get in the buffet line and get some food in our tummies, we did come for the brunch buffet right? Or was it the shrimp accented Caesars?

Some topics of discussion:

  • Vans and their many designs and colour combinations
  • Lawn Mowing
  • Dogs in cars
  • Camera Operations
  • Only cool guys drive Woodies
  • How come we are the only table drinking lots
  • Soggy rice krispie squares
The celebration of our dad and Mexican beer contined to my sister and Rob's house. After all the eating and drinking we decided a walk would do us good and help to burn off the big buffet brunch. Not even 15 minutes into the walk along the Coquitlam River we heard from behind, "When are we gonna turn around, we do have a lawns to mow you know." What is it with men and their lawns?

A great day was had by all and I hope all the lawns that had to be mowed, were.

The Wait Continues

I got the call last night that my wonderful new glasses were ready, I would have skipped to the mall if it wasn't so far. After work Baxter and I headed out. It was an adventure for him because I have never left him in my car while at the mall, there is something sinister about leaving your baby (Bax is mine) in your car while you indulge in an addiction (shopping being one of mine). Anyway he survived, I was in and out real quick, so quickly that I really didn't pay attention to the frames until I got home. THEY ARE THE WRONG SIZE. So now I have to wait another week for the right ones, I hope my eyes can handle contacts for another week of 12 hr days.

Sunday is Father's Day...so spend time with your's and buy him a Caesar or shoes. Love you Dad!

Stepmom to Many

So the day finally came, I left all my babies in the care of someone else. For those of you who know me, know I am speaking of my dogs, and those who know me well know I am speaking of my daycare dogs. It was the oddest experience but not a new one, I felt like I did back in high school when I skipped out of school. I felt like I wasn't supposed to be out in the day not working, I have obligations to work, my adult life. I do have to admit that I did call in to see how things were. "All is fine mom." Now I just have to get prepared to not come in at all the next time Jane is in, she is opening and closing. I have visions of me doing a 6:30 in the morning drive-by, wondering if she is going to make it in on time. CUT THE APRON STRINGS WILL YOU.

Out with the old Gucci's, in with new Gucci's

So my glasses finally bowed out on Thursday and I had to start the quest for new ones this pass weekend. Luckily I found a pair quickly, last time around the search was painful.

My glasses won't be ready for 7-10 days so in the interim I have to wear my glasses from grade 9. I am happy to say that I have contacts to wear out in public because as you can only imagine my high school glasses are frightening and very big.

I am excited about my new ones....tortise shell Gucci's. How Divine!

Morning Pit Stop

Ever encounter a situation or experience on your way to work that makes you wish it was a Saturday?

Popped into Starbucks this morning for my Grande Americano, new Dave Matthews was playing...wish I was able to stay, listen and enjoy the morning away. Damn work!

Why? Why? Why?

I hate it that Canada gets all cable shows late.
I hate the fact that I knew this but I just had to check out my fav show, Project Runway online.

I won't say who won just in case other PR Canadian fans read this post. And if you don't care either way, click on the link.

Anyway, at least I am happy with the designer that won and even happier to know which one didn't.

The winning designer gets an intership @ Banana Republic, so maybe one day I will wear one of their designs.

South of the Border

I awoke Sunday with excitement and the thought I was going to the Supermall in Tulalip, WA. Funny that all weekend, until this afternoon I thought I was at the Supermall which in fact I wasn't, we were at the Marysville/Tulalip Prime Outlets mall. Don't ask. The Supermall is in Auburn, WA. and it is with happiness that Ashley and I will be in Seattle in July, we will sure be in our glory. The following record of events are still the same with the exception that I wasn't where I thought I was. Read On.

I didn't know what to expect when I arrived and was surprised to discover it was a lot like the outdoor malls I have been to in phoenix and Palm Springs less the palm trees. My journey was fueled by the need to go to the Banana Republic Outlet store; I am on a quest to get some tailored bermuda shorts. I am sorry to say that they didn't have my size, how annoying is it that the size 4 is too big and the size 2 is too small. What is a girl to do? Baggy or tight? Even with the bermuda short disappointment the day wasn't a total bust, I did buy 2 pairs of Nine West sandals. Their sale made the purchase even sweeter, buy 1 pair and get the 2nd half price. 2 PAIRS FOR $70. WOW.
Purchases were foreseen but other experiences were not, we encountered many weird things.

  • Burberry sells scrunchies?! Huh? Yes there were way too many Burberry patterned scrunchies, shockingly with a price of $19 US. Who wears those silly things anymore? This may be a shallow assumption but the people that probably still wears scrunchies probably can't afford a $19 price tag
  • Ever heard of Dippin' Dots from McDonald's? It is like eating ice-cream cereal. Ice-cream is great just as it is, why change it? Our McDonald's experience didn't end there, along with paying 11cents for a hot mustard sauce, they also charged us a 66cents 'Eat-in Tax". Guilt free we left our mess on the table, we did pay to have someone clean up after us didn't we?
  • As we left McDonald's a women pulled up in a right-hand drive Subaru

I must remember for future journeys to bring my camera, you just never know when you need to capture something. I mean Burberry scrunchies? They definitely were screaming to be photographed.

Cosmetic Product Whore

I read another blog earlier that made me question, When did I become a product whore?...was roller skating through Shopper's Drug Mart at the Plaza looking for the lastest Bonne Bell's lipbalm the beginning? My pre-teen roller skating shopping missions would explain my need to own as many pinkish/nude lipglosses as I can.

On My Way To Yellow

I choose to turn left a few years back and opened my own business, Dog Utopia. Like any likeminded crazy business person I thought I have to set myself some goals. #1 get the business to support itself and then to support me and help support my family. I have beenn successful and accomplished goal #1 & #2 now I am on to #3, I have to get my hands on an employee.

#3 has been the hardest goal to meet because other than having a financial impact on me, I also have to put my faith and my business in someone else's hands. Easier said than done. I had this "very early in the morning" idea and I must say brilliant idea...hire my trainer to work in the daycare in return for free rent. My trainer currently pays Dog Utopia a commission based on the number of clients that enroll in her obedience classes. I am one smart cookie. This arrangement will eliminate money changing hands so I don't have to worry about the government(s).

Now it is goal #4 that gets me excited. I need to increase my monthly sales enough that I can lease a NEW CAR. Let me just say "keep your eyes on the road you just may see me and Baxter cruising by in my new ride."
